Fifty great years of karate club
The Drogheda School of Karate marked 50 great years with a pictorial review of those five decades at the Church of Ireland hall.
The images spanned the generations and on the day, the club made a very special presentation to founder member, 75 year old Mr. Joe Dunne - getting him to cut the birthday cake.
Philip Nulty opened the event with welcoming all and introduced Joe to all in attendance and asked him to say a few words on the history and his training in Dublin starting in 1967 and then bringing that same dedication to Drogheda in February 1969 when the local club was born.
Joe was presented with a special engraved Award and a 50th Anniversary T/shirt and he duly cut the cake.
He was introduced to the former All Ireland champions and Irish Internationals along with many former members present.
Philip Nulty spoke about the many great performers who had come from the club and went on to compete all over the world, including Japan.
