Eimhin becomes star for his late night planting!
The good deed by local man Eimhin Keenan who stopped to clear up plants which had been overturned by vandals outside Kearneys Shop in Ardee last weekend is now making international headlines.
Eimhin's good deed was first highlighted by the shop who posted a video of what he had done on their Facebook page expressing their thanks to the good Samaritan.
The story has been viewed tens of thousands of times since then and has been widely reported in the national media here and even internationally with American network ABC featuring CCTV footage of the local man repotting the overturned plants.
The footage of the vandalism - and subsequent clean up operation by Eimhin was posted by the owner's of Kearney's shop. They thanked the local man for his good deed and asked him to pop into the shop to pick up a voucher as a thank you. The video gathered a huge number of views within hours and the mystery good Samaritan was quickly identified.
Speaking to independent.ie, Eimhin said he was on his way to the bank machine when he noticed the flowers knocked over and decided to stop and clean up the mess. He said he was 'shocked' by the reaction the video has received. The individuals responsible for the vandalism, meanwhile, have apologised for their actions and offered to pay for the damage caused.
