Dunleer's tribute to John Flanagan
Huge crowds turned out in Dunleer last week to remember John Flanagan, the founder of Scoraiocht Lannleire and a man who inspired a generation of Irish musicians and singers in the region.
Addressing the congregation at his funeral mass, local Parish Priest, Fr Michael Murtagh said John left many wonderful memories and described him as a 'remarkable man.'
He said John had overcome adversity in his life and he was remarkable in his 'heritage, service and strength of character'.
'You have the support of the community and generations of musicians who will remember him fondly,' he told his family.
