Dawn Finnegan is the beautiful face of the Bellewstown Races for 2019

While jockey Lisa O'Neill takes the reins as the Ambassador for Bellewstown Races July festival this year, another woman has been leading the course in the style-stakes for three years!

This is the third time local woman Dawn Finnegan will act as Style Ambassador for Ladies Day during the four-day event, and she is as excited as ever at the prospect of being involved in what is a highlight for many.

"It is such a huge honour to be asked to do this again, something I have enjoyed since 2016," says Dawn, who runs a style blog called Dawn's LA Blog.

"We are full-steam ahead for this year's event, which is going to be bigger and better than ever."

On Friday 5th July Bellewstown Racecourse will host the highly competitive Scotch Hall Best Dressed Event, judged this year by XPOSÉ presenter Cassie Stokes assisted by Dawn.

The winner will take home a shopping spree to the value of €2,000 sponsored by Scotch Hall. There are also several other prizes on offer from local businesses with some weekends away at some of Ireland's leading hotels.

"I'm chuffed to be able to help Cassie pick the winners, and we're very lucky that so many local companies have sponsored prizes, including the big one from Scotch Hall," adds Dawn.

"I love getting involved in all the social media side of things and there's always such a buzz leading up to it, and on the day, and ladies, and gents, decide on their outfits."

So, what can be a winning outfit? Do people have to spend a fortune on designer gear and can a local win!

"Definitely a local can win, and not in expensive clothes either," says Dawn with a smile.

"Last year's winner Eimear Cassidy from Drogheda only bought her dress the night before and made her own hat, so anything is possible."

She says they are always on the lookout for something original and inventive.

"Fashions and styles change so rapidly, so we are always looking for something different," she explains.

"A lot of women are taking inspiration from the Royals, and we want to see something stylish but personal to the person, and don't forget there is also a Best Dressed Man competition as well as Best Dressed Woman, so make sure your man is stylish too!"

Those competitions will take place on Friday July 5th from 5pm.
