Concerns as Ardee's bog road is starting to crack up - big time!

Mid Louth Diary - Hubert Murphy

Louth County Council might well be advised to get a full inspection done of the bog road at Townparks because it is beginning to crack up badly.

Strolling out that way recently, I noticed a number of new cracks developing and I hate to think what they will be like come the winter.

I presume the warm summer has led to issues under the surface as the ground has hardened to a level where it is starting to split the road above.

Other sections of the bumpy stretch have also 'dipped' in parts and I can see a giant hole appearing at some stage.

Naturally, developing a road through an ancient bog brings issues and over time the well worn stretch has taken a hammering.

The road is pretty busy at times and needs attention on an ongoing basis.

Earlier this year the council did go on site and carried out a number of pothole repairs which were very welcome.
