There are possible plans to build houses on the controversial piece of land which lies between Castlemanor on the Ballymakenny Road, and the Moneymore estate.

CEO of Louth County Council Joan Martin is proposing the re-zoning of a large element of green space in this area, with a view to developing housing proposals.

The plans came to light at the September meeting of Louth County Council on Monday, following a query from Fianna Fail councillor Cllr James Byrne, who sought an update on what Louth County Council finally propose to do to resolve problems associated with the 'gap' at Castle Manor?

Director of Services Frank Pentony informed members the CEO is proposing the re-zoning of the land for housing.
