Dunleer man Alan Torris (25) is taking a well earned rest at the moment after completing an incredible charity challenge.

Alan did 3,000 press ups in the month of April and raised €3,500 in the process for LauraLynn - Ireland's Children's Hospice.

Alan works as a nurse in Drogheda, with his brother Damien by the way, and had to mix the press ups schedule each day with that.

He had set himself a target of raising €250 but that was quickly surpassed.

Coming to the last days of the challenge he had about 400 left to do and got that down to 200 for his last day and he did it!

'I would personally like to thank everyone who donated and promoted the fundraiser. Completely overwhelmed by the generous donations. Thank you all. Fantastic experience and delighted to have raised vitally important funds for a fantastic charity. The response and donations has been incredible so thanks again everybody. I've been blown away by the support,' he stated.

I know the entire family were very proud of his efforts and of course, dad, Joe, was synonymous with Pat's Gift Shop for many years.

His mum, Anne, is also a nurse and he has a sister, Aoife.
