€80,000 funding boost for Fleadh
The organisers of Fleadh Cheoil 2019 which takes place in Drogheda this August, were delighted to receive funding of over €80,000 towards the event.
The funding has been provided by the Louth Local Community Development Committee (LCDC) who signed a contract with the Chairperson of the Fleadh Executive Committee, Lolo Robinson last week.
Lolo accepted the offer of funding on behalf of the Drogheda Branch of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann.
She said 'that this funding from the LEADER programme will have a significant impact in helping to ensure that the Fleadh is a major success for the town'.
Chairman of the Louth LCDC, Liam Reilly, said: 'Securing the largest traditional music festival in the world is a major boost for Drogheda and the surrounding area which in turn will provide a multi-million Euro boost to the local economy'. Chairman of Louth Leader Partnership, Frank O'Brien, added: 'Louth Leader Partnership staff were delighted to have worked closely with the promoters to secure substantial LEADER programme funding of €85,727 for this event.'
