Garda numbers in the Drogheda district have been boosted by the arrival of 25 new officers on Monday of this week.

They were welcomed to town by Chief Supt Christy Mangan and Supt Andrew Watters and will take up duty this week.

It is expected that there will be a greater garda present on the streets of the town as a result of the new arrivals. Drogheda had been promised the numbers following an escalation of violence over the past year.
