The lotto luck continues as local shop sells the latest big winner
The seller of the latest winning lotto ticket has only one regret - it wasn't him!
Ray Madden joked with customers this week about the magical moment he got a call from the National Lottery to inform him that his shop, Madden's Centra in Termonfeckin, had sold the winning ticket for Saturday night's draw - worth a cool €2,497,727.
'I was hoping it was me, but it wasn't,' he stated. 'This is absolutely fantastic news, people in Termonfeckin are buzzing with news of the Lotto jackpot win. This is a very busy shop. We have a staff of 38 and most of our customers are local. I am friendly with James Hallinan whose Centra shop in Dromiskin sold the EuroMillions Plus winning ticket on Friday night so Centra also has lots to celebrate!'
Staff member Lorraine Jones, who actually sold the ticket, said she was 'thrilled' for the winner. 'We have really loyal customers here. I hope it's one of them.'
The winning numbers were 1, 3, 7, 27, 31, 44 and bonus number 19. The win follows excitement just up the road in Dromiskin. Centra in the village sold Friday night's €500,000 EuroMillions Plus top prize ticket.
'It has been a brilliant few weeks, there is something in the air in this part of the country for sure!,' North East Lottery rep David Woods added.
