New cinema to open in spring

The new cinema in Scotch Hall will be open to the public in April, it has been revealed.

According to the owners, Looking Glass will offer customers ‘an unrivalled luxurious cinema’ with a mix of blockbuster movies, independent and foreign language films, operas, ballets, theatre and more.

Looking Glass Cinema Group have confirmed the new state-of-the-art cinema, located on the upper level of Scotch Hall Shopping Centre, is due to open in April.

The new five screen movie theatre will feature Laser projection, Dolby ATMOS™ Surround Sound, 3d cinema technology and the ultimate in luxury seating to ensure that cinema-goers have a ‘fantastic movie and live event experience and make looking glass their cinema of choice in the market’.

Hallscotch Venture Limited applied for planning permission in 2018 to change three upper mall retail units into a cinema.

The new facility will also feature a hospitality area with a food area and wine bar as well as external signage.

Permission was granted and work on the new cinema got underway last year, after Topshop, Dorothy Perkins, Burtons and Evans vacated the centre.

The owners are currently looking for a manager for the new cinema and are seeking an enthusiastic, ambitious, talented and passionate professionsal who enjoys movies and live events and ‘dealing with people in a fast-paced and customer-facing business’.

The ideal person for the role will have previous experience in the retail, hospitality or restaurant sector, the owners said.
