Volunteers make valuable contribution

Volunteers are an integral party of every community and during National Volunteering Week a number of Drogheda people were recognised for their contribution locally.

During the week long celebrations, which took place from Monday, May 13th to Sunday, May 19th, the Louth Volunteer Centre held a number of successful events across the county, including a Coffee & Conversations morning in their Drogheda Office on Bolton Street.

Volunteers who frequently give their time to local community events and fundraisers were presented with Certificates of Appreciation at this event. Asked why they volunteer, one of those honoured remarked: #I like to feel useful and part of community activity. I love it and volunteers are the best people you could meet.'

All of those honoured have made a significant contribution to the volunteering sector in their local community and were thrilled to receive their certificate of appreciation.

If you would like to know more about volunteering locally contact Louth Volunteer Centre at 042 939 2934 / 086 043 1379 or by emailing info@volunteerlouth.ie.

The Louth Volunteer Centre are holding their annual general meeting in Governor's House, Drogheda on Monday June 10th at 7pm. All interested members of the public or representatives of community groups are welcome to attend.
