Tommy's fund gets major boost
A rehabilitation fund, set up to help Duleek native and Tallanstown based Tommy Murray, has been boosted by a fundraiser that has yielded up to €5,000.
The night was held in the Westcourt Hotel on Friday and was promoted by a team of volunteers, including members of the Dominican Church community.
Tommy, who painted the interior of the church earlier this year, was badly injured when struck by a vehicle while working in Navan during the summer.
His mother, Monica, expressed her thanks to everyone who has supported the campaign.
'It's a long road for Tommy but he's a fighter and he has started his physio. People have been great, Fr Jim in the Dominican, Rita, everyone.'
Fr Jim Donleavy said it was a great cause to get involved in and comes at a time when Tommy and his family need help.
The excellent DJ on the night, Alan Kennedy, gave his services for free too.
Rita Hanratty from the organising group said people were wonderful in supporting the event and during the week got a donation of €250 in an envelope, from 'Mr Elf and wife'.
As part of the fundraising, a diamond and ruby ring is being raffled and tickets at €5 are available from the Dominican Church office during working hours.
The draw takes place on December 16 at 6pm in Bru.
