Projects years in the planning
DROGHEDA TOWN'S ambitious plans to transform their area and club have been years in the planning.
A plan to seek funds and grants to build a new clubhouse were put in place some years ago and this year everything is coming together.
The club is volunteer based and when they finally open their doors on a new clubhouse, it will be a moment that many in the community thought would never come.
Literally 'Building a sustainable future' is how they see the present work being put in – on and off the pitch.
'The new clubhouse has a community focus and we hope it will transform the area here and provide an outlet, not just for the club but a wider audience and many interests, outside of football,' Tony Brady says.
What it will also do is create employment as the club plan to take on permanent staff once the development opens and people want to be part of it.
At present the club members are spearheading the overall running of the club.
The project and pitch development will bring with it a value of between €1.3m to €1.5m when completed.
'That's an investment in the future of Drogheda,' Tony adds.
