Hollywood glitz at the d

HOLLYWOOD GLITZ and glamour was the theme of the joint 40th celebrations of Alan and Diane McGarr in the d Hotel.

The couple set the tone by arriving in a limo, and stepping out onto a red carpet, while over 140 guests awaited their arrival.

'It was such an amazing night, and I thought, if you're going to do it, do it right,' Diane said with a laugh.

'My actual birthday was in April, but Alan's was last week, so we decided to wait and combine the two.'

The glamour continued inside (provided guests could get past the two 'bouncers' giving them a grilling).

'We both felt like movie stars, and we had a dress code for all the ladies in white, gold or silver, with the men in black and white,' says Diane, who works in Magic Kingdom creche, and is well known for volunteering in an active retirement group.

'That made my pink dress really stand out.' The DJ from the d Hotel had everyone on the dance floor for hours, but when guests wanted a breather, Tracy Martin's Funky Monkey crew entertained with their cool dance moves.

'I really want to say a huge thank you to Hallmark in West Street who were superb,' she adds.

'They decorated the room for us, and they helped make the night extra special.'

Alan had work colleagues from the Coachman's in Swords where he is a chef, and his sister Angela, and parents Joe and Teresa travelled from Kildare.

Diane's mum Marie Dunne was also a guest of honour and Diane says she'll never have to cook again she got so many lovely restaurant vouchers!
