FAMILY and friends were on hand to surprise Geraldine Eustace from Beabeg with a big party to mark her 50th birthday.

Geraldine thought she was going to the Westcourt to attend a function for someone else but instead was absolutely stunned to be greeted by a host of family and friends when she came through the door.

'It was a total surprise to her, she had no idea,' said husband Gerard. 'She got a real shock.'

The couple's children, Leann (26) and Christopher (23) along with a family friend managed to organise the party without Geraldine getting wind of it and all the hard work paid off as the delighted birthday girl partied the night away.

'It was the one time in her life she was speechless,' laughed Gerard. 'It was a great night and the Westcourt were fabulous, they really looked after us as they always do.'

Geraldine was joined for the celebrations by siblings Linda, who lives in Dingle, Margaret from Westport, Ann who is based in Drogheda and brother Micháel who is based in Termonfeckin.

Her mum, Nella Balfe and her aunts Anna, Olive and Imelda and two uncles Joe and Paddy were also present for the big birthday occasion as well as her close group of schoolfriends from Greenhills.
