COVID-19 impacted on thousands of events this year and one of the groups to suffer were the members of the Emerging Talent Soccer Programme of the Drogheda Schoolchildren's League.
They came together a number of years ago and spent thousands of hours on the training pitches, with the ultimate aim of playing in the prestigious Under 14 Kennedy Cup All-Ireland series in the University of Limerick.
But it had to be cancelled this summer and that left the team bitterly disappointed.
They did meet up for an awards session at Sage and Stone in Duleek recently and enjoyed a final farewell to their team mates. A number of awards were handed out and Dylan Moore, one of the coaching staff from the ETP and now with Drogheda Utd, made an impassioned speech to round off the players' career in the ETP.
The group thank all those that supported them and sponsors and who knows what the future holds for a great group of players.
