Emerging soccer stars do their bit for Homeless Aid

Hubert Murphy

Drogheda Homeless Aid was over €350 better off thanks to the Drogheda Emerging Talent Programme and the under 14 Kennedy Cup panel.

The young players from the region took on their coaches in a seasonal challenge and certainly didn't let the side down.  It was tight all the way through and at the final whistle couldn't be separated.

The coaches proved a little bit better in the shootout and won the contest.  The game was the first held for charity and its hoped to organise the event each year.

'It was the last ETP session before we broke for the holidays and we felt it would be great to do something for charity', Mark Costigan from the ETP stated.

The funds were raised by the league, players and coaches. The ETP has grown a lot in recent years  with more and more age groups from the Drogheda Schoolchildren's League becoming involved. The aim is for the players to compete at the under 14 Kennedy Cup series that takes place each summer at Limerick University.
