Fifty years on and a Ballsgrove couple are still mad about each other!

That's not a bad summing up of Tom and Imelda McDonnell from Ballsgrove who have just marked their golden wedding anniversary.

Tom, from Halpin's Terrace, married Imelda Crilly from Mell on July 29, 1964 in the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Tullyallen, with a wedding reception to follow in the Boyne Valley.

The family gathered in their home for a small celebration to mark the occasion - and enjoyed the moment with children Sandra, Adrian, Nicola, Thomas, Jason, grandchildren Craig, Aaron, Bryan, James, Sarah, Kyle, Rhiannon and Michael, great-granddaughter Lilly-Grace, son-in-law Liam and daughters-in-law Maureen and Sinead.

Tom worked in Irish Cement as a heavy machine operator in the quarry and Imelda worked in Woddingtons.

Tom still has a big interest in music and can often be found strumming his guitar with his granddaughter Sarah lending a helping hand.
