During the camp week a 'blitz' is organized to provide each child with introduction to competitive games. If you are interested in your child attending go onto the website www.kelloggsculcamps.gaa.ie to try and secure your place this year. This camp is always fantastically ran and the cost is €60 for 1 child, €55 for the 2nd child, €45 for the 3rd and subsequent children. Oisin's RDS bound
Serious congrats goes out to Maiden's Cross' Oisin McCann who, recently, whilst competing in the Cork Summer Show, was awarded first prize in The Racehorse to Hunter class. This qualifies him to go forward to the finals in The Horse Show in RDS in August.
Basically, this class is about training a former racehorse to become a good sport/hunter horse which takes time and a good deal of effort and the main aim here is to calm the horse but keep him fit and strong while getting the horse to react to the rider's commands. Racehorses are bred to be highly strung and just go flat out as fast as they can for as long as possible.
Oisin is now living in Donegal but was formerly employed by local horse trainers Donal Kinsella in Dunleer and John Larkin in Dunany and was a member of the Louth Hunt. Here's wishing him every success in Dublin on 10th Aug. I'll keep you posted...
There's a coffee morning on July 6th from 10am to 1pm in The Market House in Dunleer. Yeah, the coffee will be georgous, the cakes will be scrumptious and there will be vintage cars on show outside this beautiful, charm filled house, but the real reason you should pop in is because all proceeds will go to the wonderful Gary Kelly Centre.
Ann Tracey will be there to answer any relevent queries. Please mark this one in your diary.
