Glen Emmets Oskar's

It's all go now with the roles for the Glen Emmets "A Night at the OsKaR's" decided.

The big night is set for 2nd November 2019 in City North Hotel. The Glen Emmets members & Parishioners will re-create and film in the local area key movie pieces from great movies including The Field, The Full Monty, Sister Act, Walk the Line, Saving Private Ryan, Michael Collins & the Snapper.

This is going to be epic.

There are some sponsorship packages still left with lots of different budgets catered for along with sponsors for commemorative brochure that will be produced for the night. Slimming World Times

Tullyallen Slimming World classes are on every Thursday. The first class is 5pm and the second is 7pm.

They will be there giving plenty of inspiration, motivation and encouragement to everyone who comes along.

Harry Potter Movie Night

Calling all Harry Potter fans out there. The team behind the Snapper OsKaRs movie are raising funds to get their movie made. There will be a Harry Potter Movie Night in the Glen Emmets Club House on Friday 13th September from 6.30pm to 9.30pm.

Bring a bean bag or cushion, snacks will be provided and entry is just €5. There will be so many lines that we have all heard before and one of the most famous ones from Hermione Granger in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone "I hope you're pleased with yourselves. We could all have been killed - or worse, expelled. Now if you don't mind, I'm going to bed".

Lotto Results

Results for the Glen Emmets Lotto held 27th August 2019. The Grand Prize Draw was for €7,400 and there was no winner. The numbers drawn were 7, 9, 11 & 25. The 4 Lucky Dip winners who receive €25 are Suzanne Conlon, Dave Dowling, Tim McCarthy & Jamie Gilkes. Next week's draw is €7,00. Pre-Loved Dress & Handbag Event

The team behind "Walk the Line", "Saving Private Ryan" and "Sister Act" have come up with a novel way to raise funds for their movies. They are holding a Pre-Loved Dress and handbag event on Friday, 4th October at 7.30 in the Parish Hall.

Entry is just €10, there will be make up and beauty style tips, Prosecco & cupcake reception. But if you can donate anything that will help the night go with a bang, contact Linda, Janet or Dee in the Glen Emmets.

This will certainly be great night for the ladies and not one to be missed.

Tennis Coaching

Great news for all the tennis lovers out there, Monknewtown Tennis club are organizing tennis coaching for kids. Monknewtown is right beside Dolly Mitchells, just turn right at the pub and you are nearly there.

This is a 10 week term that starts Saturday, 7th September. The lessons will be split into Ages.

The lessons for 4 to 6 year olds is from 10am to 10.30am. The lessons for 6 to 8 year olds is 10.30am to 11.30am.

The lessons for 8-10 year olds is from 11.30am to 12.30pm and the lessons for 10 to 12 year olds is from 12.30pm to 1.30pm. This costs €70 for the 6-12 year olds, €50 for the 4-6 year olds and there is a €20 reduction for the second/third child.

Couch To 5K Is Back

Back by popular demand is the Tullyallen "Couch To 5K". The first round of Sign up was last Sunday but you have not missed the deadline to commit. There is another sign up on Monday 9th September 8pm-9pm in the Glen Emmets Clubhouse.

Training starts Monday, 16th September and continues twice a week for 8 weeks.

Each coached session lasts one hour and takes place Monday and Thursdays at 8pm. This caters for all fitness levels and participants are divided into groups with people of similar ability.

The cost for the whole thing is just €30, so go ahead, what are you waiting for, you won't regret it!

Men's Shed

The Tullyallen Men's Shed have announced a fundraiser for Saturday, 5th October with Two's Company providing the entertainment. Tickets will be available for purchase soon, so keep this date marked for your calendar.

Tullyallen Men's Shed meet up every Tuesday and Friday mornings 10 am till 1 pm why not call into them. They are currently in the Glen Emmets GFC Clubhouse.

They have Bowls, Pool, Darts, Rings, Cards so why not call in for a chat and a cuppa. Everyone has something to offer in the Shed.

All new members will be most welcome.

Order of Malta Seeks Cadet Recruits.

Gaelic 4 Mothers & Others

A great initiative for the ladies of the parish is "Gaelic 4 Mothers & Others".

This is aimed at past players & ladies from non-LGFA background, mothers & non mothers, you just need to be 25+ and not a registered player.

This is a non-competitive environment & is a great social outlet where ladies can learn about Gaelic Football, be physically active & get to meet lots of new people.

Table Quiz

The team behind 'The Field' movie that are taking part in the OsKaRs in November are holding a table quiz. They are trying to raise funds for their 'movie'.

The quiz will be in Dolly Mitchell's on Friday, 13th St 8pm. It costs just €40 for a team of 4, so why not go along and see if you can show off your knowledge and help this team get their movie off to a great start.

Local Music Classes

Alan Kelly School of Music is re-opened on Monday, 2nd of September.

Lessons are for adults and children and are available on Piano, Keyboard, Guitar and Accordion.

Alan caters for exam students and also those that just like to play for fun. Exams can be done through R.I.A.M. for all grades and there are still some spaces available.

Swimming Lessons

The new term sees lots of classes starting or resuming and Drumcar Swimming Pool is no different.

This pool is very close to us here in Tullyallen, it is not too big and if memory serves me right, a lovely temperature.

The Parent and Baby classes are Sunday Mornings, the Adult Classes are Wednesday evenings and the Children's lessons are Sunday Mornings and Wednesday evenings. So there is a class in there to suit everyone.

Mattock Lotto

Numbers drawn were 10-16-21-26. This week's Jackpot was not won. Two Match 3 Winners Mary Reid and Aileen Murphy. Next week's Jackpot will be €16,500 (our largest ever). If you want to be in with a chance you can get envelopes around the village or you can play online!

Back to School

Best of luck to all the pupils who returned to Collon National School last Thursday for the new school year.

Special best wishes are sent to all the boys and girls starting junior infants. A huge day for you all and your parents.

Blessing of Graves

Huge numbers attended the Annual Blessing of the graves on Sunday in Collon.

As always, the graves and graveyard was in immaculate condition and it was great to see so much work been done there over the last few weeks. Well done to all involved. All our loved ones would be very proud.

Happy 50th Irene

Congrats and best wishes are sent to Irene Myers, The Cloisters who celebrated her 50th birthday last Thursday.
