Glen Emmets Oskar's

It's all go now with the rolls for the Glen Emmets "A Night at the OsKaR's" decided.

The big night is set for 2nd November in City North Hotel. The Glen Emmets members & Parishioners will re-create and film in the local area key movie pieces from great movies including The Field, The Full Monty, Sister Act, Walk the Line, Saving Private Ryan, Michael Collins & the Snapper.

This is going to be epic.

There are some sponsorship packages still left with lots of different budgets catered for along with sponsors for commemorative brochure that will be produced for the night. Slimming World Times

Tullyallen Slimming World classes are on every Thursday. The first class is 5pm and the second is 7pm. They will be there giving plenty of inspiration, motivation and encouragement to everyone who comes along.

Lotto Results

Results for the Glen Emmets Lotto held 21st August 2019. The Grand Prize Draw was for €7,300 and there was no winner. The numbers drawn were 2, 14, 16 & 28. The 4 Lucky Dip winners who receive €25 are Martin & Irene Molloy, Kerry Tully, Ken Healy & Katie & Aoife Faulkner. Next week's draw is €7,400. Couch To 5K Is Back

Back by popular demand is the Tullyallen "Couch To 5K". Sign up is Sunday, 1st September 12-1pm and Monday 9th September 8pm-9pm in the Glen Emmets Clubhouse.

Training starts Monday, 16th September and continues twice a week for 8 weeks. Each coached session lasts one hour and takes place Monday and Thursdays at 8pm. This caters for all fitness levels and participants are divided into groups with people of similar ability.

The cost for the whole thing is just €30, so go ahead, what are you waiting for, you won't regret it!

Men's Shed

The Tullyallen Men's Shed have announced a fundraiser for Saturday, 5th October with Two's Company providing the entertainment. Tickets will be available for purchase soon, so keep this date marked for your calendar.

Tullyallen Men's Shed meet up every Tuesday and Friday mornings 10 am till 1pm why not call into them. They are currently in the Glen Emmets GFC Clubhouse. They have Bowls, Pool, Darts, Rings, Cards so why not call in for a chat and a cuppa. Everyone has something to offer in the Shed. All new members will be most welcome.

Order of Malta Seeks Cadet Recruits

Gaelic 4 Mothers & Others

A great initiative for the ladies of the parish is "Gaelic 4 Mothers & Others". This is aimed at past players & ladies from non-LGFA background, mothers & non mothers, you just need to be 25+ and not a registered player.

This is a non-competitive environment & is a great social outlet where ladies can learn about Gaelic Football, be physically active and get to meet lots of new people. The contact for this is Joey Kells 087 2114632.

Tullyallen National School Back To School

It's all systems go when the little ones return after the long summer break. The doors of the school will open again on Wednesday, 28th August.

Vintage Ploughing Day

Meath vintage Group will hold their Vintage Ploughing Day in Townley Hall again this year. This is an annual event that will take place on Sunday, 1st September 2019 in Townley Hall, Slane Road. This event has something for all the family as well as lots of ploughing skills on display, fun and games for the kids, glamorous granny contest, fun dog show, adult 3-leg racing, egg & spoon racing, weight guessing and sales of garden produce to name but a few. If past years are anything to go by this promises to be a fun filled day for all the family. All proceeds will go towards The Tullyallen Carers, so why not pop along on the day and lend your support.

Table Quiz

The team behind 'The Field' movie that are taking part in the OsKaRs in November are holding a table quiz. They are trying to raise funds for their 'movie'. The quiz will be in Dolly Mitchell's on Friday, 13th St 8pm. It costs just €40 for a team of 4, so why not go along and see if you can show off your knowledge and help this team get their movie off to a great start.

Trad in the Morning Star

After 4 long weeks of absence the Morning Star are back up and running for their Friday night Trad Sessions. If you enjoyed the Fleadh and are suffering from withdrawal symptoms, the Morning Star is the place to be on a Friday night at 9.30. All are welcome to come along and sing a song or play a tune.

Irish Dancing in Tullyallen

Aisling from Nally School of Irish Dancing is thinking of starting up Irish Dancing classes in Tullyallen but is just testing the waters to see if there is any interest in this for our area. Local Music Classes

Alan kelly School of Music is re-opening on Monday, 2nd of September. Lessons are for adults and children and are available on Piano, Keyboard, Guitar and Accordion. Course closed this Wednesday and Thursday for the Bellewstown Races. Also, in the winners circle last week was our young juvenile member Patrick Farrell who was on the Meath team who won the Leinster Inter-County Championship at Navan. Good luck to our members in the Meath Matchplay Championship next weekend.

Drive-In Bingo

Duleek-Bellewstown GFC have their drive-in Bingo on Sunday 8th September @ 3.00pm in Bellewstown Racecourse. Over €3,000 in Prize Money to be won on the day. Complimentary Tea and Coffee at interval.

Hospice Coffee Morning

Bellewstown will host its annual National Hospice Coffee Morning on Thursday 19th September in the Parish Hall beside the church from 9-12noon.There will be a raffle on the day.

All money raised goes to the local Hospice. Come along enjoy coffee & chat bring a friend & meet some new ones.

Once-off Fundraiser

The John Gough Trust is holding a once-off fundraiser on Saturday 21st Sept. in Donaghamore Ashbourne GAA Club.

Football match starts at 5pm with celebrity Mentors from Meath and Dublin teams past and present. A night of entertainment follows with the fabulous Abbaesque; then an auction, raffle and DJ until late. Free entry to football. Concert tickets €30. Limetree Writers Group

Writing sessions take place every 2nd Tuesday of the month in Duleek Library. The next meeting is Tuesday 9th July at 6.45pm. New members welcome.

Ardcath Windfall

Mr. Micheál Dunican

Sadly, another prominent Ardcath man has left the field. Former Meath footballer Mícheál (Mick) Dunican, Cloghan House, Ardcath passed away on 12th August under the exceptional care of the staff at Beaumont Hospital and surrounded by his loving family.

Predeceased by his brother Kieran (Galway) and Fr. Seamus (Rahan, Co. Offaly), he will be sadly missed and will be lovingly remembered by his beloved wife, Kathleen, daughter Kay, sons Jim, Ed, Paul and John, sisters Rosaleen Kelly (Limerick) and Mary Teevan (Dublin), and his 13 adored grandchildren, his daughters-in-law and relatives and friends.

Hundreds came to the Mass on Thursday in St. Mary's Church Ardcath to pay their respects. Micheál Dunican was laid to rest in Ardcath Cemetery. May he rest in peace.

Hospice Coffee Morning

The Annual Hospice Coffee Morning will be held in Swan's Lounge, Curragha, on Thursday 5th September from 9.30 to 12.30. All of the funds raised are divided equally between Meath Palliative Care Nurses, and The Gary Kelly Support Centre,. Last year we raised € 5,950 and with your support we hope to do so again this year. 

Please come along and bring your friends and neighbours for a great morning of Coffee/Tea, Cakes, and a Sales Area of New and Previously Loved Clothes, and Lots of Spot Prizes.
