Around the districts: Tullyallen

Date for your diary

The Tullyallen Access the Glen Committee are delighted to announce that the official opening of the Glen Walkway will take place on Saturday 30th March 2019 at 2 pm at King William's Glen.  We are absolutely thrilled that Ms Éanna ní Lámhna has agreed to officiate at this long awaited event. This is a huge honour for all involved and for Tullyallen and the surrounding areas.  Ms Ní Lámhna is one of Ireland's best known public figures in the area of nature and the environment.  She is a renowned author, biologist, educator and is also a radio (Mooney goes wild) and TV presenter.  It is an added bonus that she also hails from the wee county. Further updates will follow on this event and the Committee looks forward to welcoming all at what promises to be a wonderful day - a fitting finale for this wonderful community project.

Parish News

Ash Wednesday is this Wednesday, 6th of March . Masses with the blessing and distribution of ashes will be at 10 am and 7.30pm. During Lent all weekday Masses are at 7.30pm.

Confirmation will be celebrated this Friday 8th of March at 11am, the Celebrant is the Very Rev Dean Kevin Donaghy PP VG (Dungannon and dean of the diocese). We wish the boys and girls well as they take another step on their journey of faith. 

We are currently seeking two new members for our pastoral area resource team. If you are interested please contact Fr. Dooley.  The work of each pastoral area is coordinated by a pastoral team. The team consists of people from each of the parishes in the pastoral area. Under the leadership of the VF, the pastoral area resource team helps to strengthen each of the parishes in the pastoral areas by: Ensuring the effective sharing of the collective gifts and talents of the in the pastoral area. Identifying pastoral matters that can be done better together as a pastoral area than separately as individual parishes

St. Patrick's Day is Sunday 17th of March Mass is at 10am and not 11am.  Upcoming talks for Lent in Community Services Centre Scarlet Crescent Drogheda, Thursday 7th of March, 14th of March and 21st of March. Each talk will be from 7.30pm to 8.45pm and refreshments will be served, all welcome. Thursday 7th of March - Listening for God's Voice in the Old Testament- Patrick Logue, 14th of March - Christian Art & Scripture-Larry Corrigan and 21st of March - Women of the Bible - Margaret Duffy.

Adoration is each Friday night at 7.00pm and The Stations of the Cross are commencing on Sunday 10th of March at 7pm and each Sunday in Lent at 7pm. 

Fun Day For The Whole Family

The glen Emmets are organizing a fun day for the whole family that will take place on Sunday 7th April at 2pm. You can run or walk the 5k to support our local club. There will be a finishers medal for adults and juveniles. This is race chip timed and is a great preparation for the Drogheda 10k in May.

This costs €15 for adults, €10 for under 18's, €30 for a family entry comprising of 2 adults and 2 under 18's. There is also a group rate available. Events kick off at 3pm and there will be tea / coffee and refreshments for everyone who takes part after the event in the Glen Emmets Clubrooms. Lotto Results

Results for the Glen Emmets Lotto held 26th February 2019. The Grand Prize Draw was for €4,800 and there was no winner. The numbers drawn were 15, 27, 29 & 31. The 4 Lucky Dip winners who receive €25 each are Tom & Marie Johnson, Jane Byrne, Mary Moore & Roisin Smith. Next week's draw is €4,900. Tickets are on sale in Centra Tullyallen or any committee member.

Slimming World Times

Tullyallen Slimming World classes are on every Thursday. The first class is 5pm and the second is 7pm. Amanda will be there giving plenty of inspiration, motivation and encouragement to everyone who comes along.

Men's Shed

Tullyallen Men's Shed meets up every Tuesday and Friday mornings 10 am till 1 pm why not call into them. They are currently in the Glen Emmets GFC Clubhouse. They have Bowls, Pool, Darts, Rings, Cards so why not call in for a chat and a cuppa. Everyone has something to offer in the Shed. All new members will be most welcome. Tullyallen Parent & Toddler Group

The Tullyallen Parent & Toddler group continues to meet every Thursday from 9.30 to 11.30am in the Glen Emmets Clubrooms. This is not just for parents, grandparents and minders can come along with the kids also, it's a great way for the kids to get together and the grown-ups can catch up with a cuppa and a natter. This costs just €3 per adult and this includes entry into the Glen Emmets Lotto draw.

Spring Rejuvenation

Strength training, Yoga, an Outdoor Hike around Tullyallen Glen & Townley Hall, snacks & refreshments finished off with more Yoga. Does it sound like something that might interest you? Glen Emmets Kellogg's Cúl Camp

The dates for the Kellogg's Cúil camps have just been announced and Tullyallen will again be hosting a week this summer. The Glen Emmets camp is on 15th July to 19th July this year. The children receive a jersey and training top and a backpack. The camps are structured so that a different aspect of the game is worked on each day, the programme involves coaching specific skills and is a great opportunity for the children to put into practice what they have learned through small sided games. During the camp week a 'blitz' is organized to provide each child with introduction to competitive games. If you are interested in your child attending go onto the website www.kelloggsculcamps.gaa.ie to try and secure your place this year. This camp is always fantastically ran and the cost is €60 for 1 child, €55 for the 2nd child, €45 for the 3rd and subsequent children. And if your child wants to attend another camp they can register for €45 without the gear that they get in their first camp.

The Brickx Club

If any of the children out there are interested in Leggo, they might be interested in Brichology. The Bricikx club Drogheda, The Brickx Club Dundalk and the Brickx Club Navan, Kells and Slane are thrilled to join forces to bring you Brickology! This will take place on the Bank Holiday Monday, 18th March in The Irish Military War Museum & park Starinagh, Collon, Co. Meath A92 V4K7.

Sessions available to book are 10am-12pm, 1pm-3pm and 4pm-6pm (10am-11am is a sensory hour) The cost is €10 per person or a family of 5 costs €40. Text to book 086 154 6940. Proceeds from the day will be going to International Orphan Aid Ireland.
