Also, the Crepes are out of this world with every taste catered for in fillings. Available also are whipped ice cream, tea, minerals etc. Opening times are Thursday 2-8 Friday, Saturday, Sunday and bank holiday Mondays 10-8pm. We have been waiting for a business like this in the Harbour for years. Best wishes are sent to Barry with this new business.
Sunday saw the arrival on the beach of 'Michael O'Brien' our new Shannon Class Lifeboat. It arrived in glorious splendour accompanied by other Lifeboats from Howth, Skerries and Kilkeel and was also joined by our own "Doris Bleasdale" and the relief boat "Ruth & David Arthur" which will be with us for a few more weeks while the crews continue with their training.
"Doris Bleasdale" has been here for the past 26 years; it will be hard to remember to call the new one Michael. It is the latest in the Shannon Class and it will cut almost by half the time it takes to launch the Lifeboat for rescue.
Coxswain Thomas Whelehan along with his crew Padraig Rath, Sean Reilly, Gerald Sharkey and Sean Flanagan brought "Michael O'Brien" to Clogherhead and what proud men they were. The beach was packed to capacity for the arrival and afterwards all present was catered for with beautiful sandwiches and cakes. Sincere thanks are sent to all who supplied the food, served and cleaned up afterwards. Musical entertainment was supplied by the Clogherhead Lifeboat Musical Crew and the children from Callystown NS.
Please remember to keep Sunday 31st August free as that is the date for the Blessing and official Launching.
