Monasterboice: Tea for MND - Let's drink Tea for MND is a great way to gather some friends & raise funds for people living with Motor Neurone Disease. Please get a group and join in on Fri 21st June 2019 in the Westcourt Hotel Drogheda from 10.30am - 1.30. Raffle will be held on the day. You'll go a long way if you are looking for a better cause.

Seisiúin Clainne - Traditional Irish Music Sessions for Families. Drumshallon Forge Heritage Centre in association with Louth County Council will be hosting a series of monthly music sessions with leading Traditional Irish musicians. These sessions are aimed at young people 7 to 17 years of age and their parents. All musicians, whether just starting out or seasoned musicians, are more than welcome to join. It is free to the public and will take place on Sundays between 2 to 4 PM on the next following dates: July 14th, August 04th, Sept 08th, Oct 13th. Volunteer Tellers wanted

Monasterboice Credit Union is looking for volunteer tellers to work at it's counter on Friday evenings OR Saturday mornings OR Monday mornings. Full training will be given and this experience will stand one in good stead in any future adventures. Please call into the office for further details.

First Responders Golf

The East Meath First Responders are holding their inaugural Golf tournament on Friday 5th July at Laytown Bettystown Golf Club. Cost is €300 per team of four. There is also a prize of a car for a hole in one. For booking and sponsorship ring 083 8302414.

Become an AgeWell Companion

AgeWell engages men and women aged 50 years and older as companions to visit less able older people in their homes. We are now extending this very successful service to Navan and surrounding areas and all areas of East Meath. Companions help to: Reduce Isolation, Identify Evolving Health Problems, Link older people to healthcare & Community Services. As a companion, you are trained to use the AgeWell Smartphone App, which helps to keep older people living independently in their own homes and also promotes social engagement and good health. The winners of the competition last Sunday were Esther Andrews & Tony Coyne. The course is looking great at the moment and it's a great asset to the community. Membership is open to new members so why not give it a go.

Sandcastle Competitions

The annual Sandcastle building and sand sculpturing competitions day will take place on Sunday 30th June. Now in its 17th year, it's a wonderful activity for all the family and for tourists, especially with the beach, the sand, the water, the fresh air, and the parking all free - just bring the buckets and spades!

Sonairte volunteers needed

Sonairte (Laytown) are looking for volunteers!

For those who don't know, Sonairte is mostly run by volunteers, we are in need of extra hands for the summer. with many roles available especially in the garden, helping our gardeners produce fresh organic food for our shop. So, if you can spare a few hours to improve a skill or start a new hobby, please get in touch with them on their Facebook page.

East Meath First Responders

This life saving organization are holding their first ever golf tournament at Laytown & Bettystown golf course on Friday July 5th. This organization gets no governmental assistance whatsoever, they survive on the generosity of the local communities to keep the show on the road. A very dedicated group of volunteers, who at the drop of a hat can be at emergency within minutes. The entry fee is €300 per team of four. There is also a car to be won for a hole in one.

To enter a team of four please call 083 8302414. Golfers can sponsor a hole as well. Your generosity would be very much appreciated.  

30th Anniversary of Mornington Church

Mornington Church was Blessed and opened on 27th August 1989 by Bishop Michael Smith. To mark the 30th anniversary of the new church a special Mass will be celebrated by Bishop Michael Smith on Saturday the 31st of Aug at 6 pm. 

You are asked to make a special note of this and join the parish in the celebrations.

A meeting will be held to make preparations on Wednesday, June 12th (tomorrow) at 8 pm in the parish rooms.

Charity Bridge

This will be held every Tuesday in Laytown and Bettystown golf club at 7.30 pm. All welcome. Phone 9813282 between (9.30 am to 5.30 pm) if you need a partner. 

Proceeds will go to local charities such as East Meath Meals on Wheels and Senior Citizens Mornington/Bettystown and Laytown.

Wooly Farm Animals

Wooly Farm Animals are coming to Julianstown on Sunday 23rd June, @ 2 pm. Children will be able to meet and pet rabbits, lambs, goats etc. Paul our favourite magician will astound us with his magic show and puppet theatre. Lots of fun and games for all. Join us in our village garden and enjoy the fun.

Julianstown & District Community Association 

We will shortly be starting a complete revamp of the beds going up the hill in Julianstown and are in the process of drawing up a design. This will create a focal point going up through the village and also include additional seating.   

We hope that you will support us by either giving a helping hand or making a donation towards the project.  We want Julianstown to grow into an attractive, safe and sustainable village which will be home to a vibrant, creative and enterprising community, welcoming to all.
