Noel bound for Aintree

Last week saw another big win for local rider Noel Callaghan from Piperstown Equestrian Centre, at the Tattersalls Summer Show.

Noel and his horse were reserve champions in The Race Horse to Riding Horse Class, which was sponsered by Irish Horse Welfare Trust.

As a result of this win both horse and rider have been selected to compete at no other than the UK National Championships at the world renowned Aintree racecourse, later this month. Quite the honour, indeed.

Jack did us proud

God, it was heart warming to see local man, Jack Boylan, give the entire field the proverbial run for their money in The National Athletic Championships in Sentry last Sunday.

Castlelumley's Jack, who was competing in the blue ribbioned 1500mts final, aired on RTE, made most of the running against very illustrious company, and whilst he was unable to hold his advantage to the line,

His performance was one that all in Monasterboice should be very proud of and one that suggests an exciting future for this young man.
