It is very sad to see the iconic building Creevelee Nursing home knocked down. It has been part of the Laytown landscape for many years and was an impressive piece of architecture. I wonder what it's replacement will look like.
End of an era
After many many years, Tom Kelly will no longer represent the local community as a Meath Councillor.
Tom was a trojan worker and was always available to everyone, any time anywhere. He did great work and will be missed. I wish you well in your retirement, Tom.

First Responders Golf
The East Meath First Responders are holding their inaugural Golf tournament on Friday 5th July at Laytown Bettystown Golf Club. Cost is €300 per team of four.

The annual Sandcastle building and sand sculpturing competitions day will take place on Sunday 30th June. Now in its 17th year, it's a wonderful activity for all the family and for tourists, especially with the beach, the sand, the water, the fresh air, and the parking all free - just bring the buckets and spades!
Sonairte Volunteers needed
Sonairte (Laytown) are looking for volunteers! For those who don't know, Sonairte is mostly run by volunteers, we are in need of extra hands for the summer. with many roles available especially in the garden, helping our gardeners produce fresh organic food for our shop. East Meath First Responders
This life saving organization are holding their first ever golf tournament at Laytown & Bettystown golf course on Friday July 5th. This organization gets no governmental assistance whatsoever, they survive on the generosity of the local communities to keep the show on the road. A very dedicated group of volunteers, who at the drop of a hat can be at emergency within minutes. The entry fee is €300 per team of four. There is also a car to be won for a hole in one. To enter a team of four please call 083 8302414. Golfers can sponsor a hole as well. Your generosity would be very much appreciated.
Woolly Farm Animals
Wooly Farm Animals are coming to Julianstown on Sunday 23rd June, @ 2 pm. Children will be able to meet and pet rabbits, lambs, goats etc. Paul, our favourite magician, will astound us with his magic show and puppet theatre. Lots of fun and games for all. Join us in our village garden and enjoy the fun.
Julianstown & District Community Association
We will shortly be starting a complete revamp of the beds going up the hill in Julianstown and are in the process of drawing up a design. This will create a focal point going up through the village and also include additional seating. We hope that you will support us by either giving a helping hand or making a donation towards the project. We want Julianstown to grow into an attractive, safe and sustainable village which will be home to a vibrant, creative and enterprising community, welcoming to all.

Tús Work Placement
Exciting opportunity to avail of 19.5 hours work placement in your local area. Meath Partnership is currently seeking to expand the number of participants on the Tús Scheme. Tús is a one-year community work placement scheme for people who are unemployed for more than twelve months and in receipt of a jobseeker's payment. Smithstown Café closed
Very sad to see the Smithstown Café closed very suddenly last Thursday. It had been doing great business and the food was excellent.

Duleek Cardiac First Response Group Information Evening
We are holding an information evening for anybody who may be interested in becoming a Cardiac First Responder CFR with our group on Thursday 13th June at 7:45pm in the parish centre Duleek.

We have no excuse now not to go and meet friends and relax with a cuppa as the new Dejá Coffee shop at Watters opened its doors last week.
