Sonairte Volunteers Needed

Sonairte (Laytown) are looking for volunteers!

For those who don't know, Sonairte is mostly run by volunteers, we are in need of extra hands for the summer, with many roles available especially in the garden, helping our gardeners produce fresh organic food for our shop.

The centre is open every Friday, Saturday & Sunday for nature walks and the walled garden.

Drivers Wanted

The Irish Cancer Society's Volunteer Driver Service is looking for volunteer drivers in Meath who will drive patients to and from their chemotherapy appointments in their partner Dublin hospitals. The service is free to the patient with all driver expenses being paid.

Laytown Races

The annual Laytown Race meeting will take place on Wednesday 11th September with first race at 4p.m. approx. Laytown races occupies a unique position in the Irish and British racing calendar as it is the only race event run on a beach under the rules of the Turf Club.

Art Exhibition

An Art exhibition of Ann Kieran's work will take place in Sonairte, Laytown on Sunday 1st September between 2 and 5pm. All proceeds to local St. Vincent de Paul.

Mornington Church 30th Anniversary

Mornington church was blessed and opened on 27th Aug 1989 by Bishop Michael Smith. To mark the 30th anniversary of the new church a special mass will be celebrated by Bishop Michael Smith on Saturday the 31st of Aug at 6 pm. 

You are asked to make a special note of this and join the parish in the celebrations.

The mass will be followed by a parish social evening in the Glenside hotel. Buffet reception at 7.30pm.

Tickets €15 are on sale after mass and in the Sacristy and parish office.  Next planning meeting: Thursday 29th at 8 pm in the parish room.

Mornington Church Grounds Team Needs Help

There is one Saturday to go before the 30th-anniversary celebrations.

Our numbers have dwindled recently and we will never get the grounds ready unless a few extra people turn up at 9.30am on Saturday. If you only come for an hour, a morning or all three Saturdays this would be fantastic. We have plenty of tools. All we need is people to use them.

East Meath Bridge Club

Will restart on Tuesday 3rd September, upstairs in the history room, in Laytown and Bettystown golf club. Everybody to be sitting for 7.30pm start.  Please note that the car park is now a one-way system with the entrance at the tennis court end.

The Julianstown Community Centre are giving free basic iPhone, iPad, smartphone and tablet training that is commencing shortly. If you would like to book a place please contact Angela on 046 9280790

Tús Work Placement

Exciting opportunity to avail of 19.5 hours work placement in your local area. Meath Partnership is currently seeking to expand the number of participants on the Tús Scheme.

Tús is a one-year community work placement scheme for people who are unemployed for more than twelve months and in receipt of a jobseeker's payment. Participants receive a top up payment, while maintaining all secondary benefits. Minimum payment is €225.50 per week.

You will also receive dedicated one to one career support, C. V. preparation, interview skills and accredited training throughout the year.

Just B Fit

Just B Fit will be coming to the Julianstown community centre. The classes will be starting on Tuesday 10th September.
