After the wonderful news about our inclusion on the Irish Camino, Coillte have contacted Tullyallen Access the Glen Committee with some very upsetting news. Unfortunately, because of the continued use of the path by some Mountain Bikers they have said that if this practice continues, they will have no option but to close the Walkway on Health and Safety grounds. Despite signage that is displayed on the walk, some bikers are still cycling on the route.
The walkway is now very popular and because of the unprecedented amount of walkers that are using it, both young and old, Coillte fear that an accident will happen in the near future. Therefore, we would ask all of the walkers to please encourage the bikers to use the designated routes that are available to them at the other side of the nature walk.
In fact, Coillte have even volunteered to designate an entire area for mountain bike users at the other less used side of the nature walk. We need to publicise this so that everyone is made aware of the awful possibility that the hard fought for and much loved amenity be lost to us all.

Lots of people passing through our lovely village last Saturday on their way to the Metallica concert in Slane. Great to see a buzz about the place on the last stop before Slane. Great memories been recalled about many concerts in Slane over the years. Bruce Springsteen and Queen in 1985 and 1986 been high up there. Some fantastic bands have played on our doorstep and yet another reason why we are so lucky to live in this beautiful village of ours

Blessing of Graves Ballapousta
A quick reminder that the Blessing of the Graves will be held in Ballapousta on Sunday 23rd June at 11a.m. The crowds at Ballapousta seem to get bigger and bigger every year and people come from all over the country to attend to their loved one's graves.
I remember being on holidays in Co. Kerry in 1981 with my parents, God be good to them, and the sun was shining, it was a beautiful day.
This man got chatting to my Dad and as usual with the Irish the conversation turned to the weather. The man Dad had met said to him "That would be a great day for Ballapousta", him not knowing Dads family were laid to rest there.
The stranger was from Dublin and attended his loved one's graves in Ballapousta. It's a small world and I always feel that the Blessing of the graves in Ballapousta is a great gathering of people that may only see each other once a year.
