Duleek: Bring and buy coffee morning - Coffee Morning in aid of Autism Spectrum Disorder unit in Duleek School will be a Bring and Buy Coffee Morning in Duleek Courthouse on Sunday 16th June from 9.00am - 12.30pm.
Duleek will soon be the home of a new ASD unit catering for the needs of children with Autism and special educational needs, catering for up to six pupils in each. Duleek school welcomes the significant progress that has been made in the provision of land for two purpose-built ASD units beside the existing schools in the village.
Only two years ago we built a magnificent school in Duleek and it's already outgrown our needs here in the village and particularly those with special needs and those on the Autism spectrum.
This is wonderful news for parents and children from our district. The value of an ASD unit to a child, parent and community is simply priceless.
Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a developmental disorder that affects communication and behaviour. Although autism can be diagnosed at any age, it is said to be a "developmental disorder" because symptoms generally appear in the first two years of life

Know Your Parish
The following advert appeared in the pages of the Drogheda Independent in September 1899: `For sale, about 150 Larch, 325 Scotch, 275 Spruce, 55 Ash, 50 Elm, 80 Oak and 85 various, in all, about 1,050 trees. Terms: To be cut down by the purchaser and removed within a specified time. No timber to be removed until all the purchase money is paid. Timber may be seen and fuller particulars obtained on personal applications to Mr A Watt, Gormanston, or by letter to Viscount Gormanston`.
The, above-mentioned, `Mr. A. Watt`, was a loyal servant of the Gormanston Household.
He was originally from Ayrshire in Scotland and, along with his wife, they both served three consecutive generations of the Preston family at Gormanston Castle.
Both Mr. Watt and his wife are interred in Stamullen cemetery, their grave-plot being marked by a fine headstone which was erected by the 15th Viscount Gormanston in the first decade of the 20th century and is situated in the old Stamullen graveyard overlooking the road into the village.
