Hospice Coffee Morning
Ireland`s Biggest Coffee Morning for the Hospice Association will be hosted across the region on Thursday morning, September 19th next.
The countryside across the parish has an abundance of haw-berries, sloe-berries, elderberries and blackberries at the moment. The mixture of sunshine and some heavy rain throughout the summer has resulted in a large yield of such wild fruits on the hedgerows; sadly, too few people collect the autumn rewards in the 21st century.
Major restoration work is continuing at the Railway viaduct over the Delvin Estuary at Knocknagin.
The magnificent Georgian building known as Stedalt House in Stamullen is up for sale.
This Regency-style residence with its stunning architecture had originally been the home of the Walsh family throughout the 19th century and was then the home of the McCartney-Filgate family until the place was sold in the mid 1930`s to an order of nuns; the Sisters of the Holy Child Jesus. Stedalt House later became the residence of the Sisters of Poor Clare Nuns who operated a babies home here from the mid 1950`s until the later 1980`s when the premises was sold to a private individual who transformed the surrounding grounds into that of a retirement home for the infirm and elderly. Stedalt House is now on the property market, along with almost five-acres of land.
Any news or interesting items welcome in this column, births, birthdays, engagements, weddings, sports/social/special events etc. Please have all information to me by 10pm on Thursday evenings at email@example.com or contact 087-2486472.
St. Fechin's Hurlers.
Congratulations to the St. Fechin's Hurling team who are through to the Louth Senior Hurling finals.
Last Thursday the team contested the semi-finals against Knockbridge in Darver and won on a scoreline of 3-13 to 1-11. While St. Fechin's are straight through to the final they could end up facing Knockbridge again in the final as Knockbridge's defeat means that they have to play Naomh Moinne in the other semi-final. So whoever it is, Knockbridge or Naomh Moinne, "c'mon the Fechin's".

Two Sandpit Set Dancing teams took part in the All Ireland Finals at the 2019 Fleadh Ceoil na hEireann in Drogheda recently. A mixed and a girls team took part in the finals held in Our Lady's College, Greenhills. They put in great performances on the night but faced very stiff opposition and while not coming away with any medals on this occasion they certainly did their County and Province very proud.
