Local Election posters

With just under a month to go before the local elections, the candidates are indeed out in force pressing the flesh, knocking on doors and putting up election posters on every pole across the landscape. It is indeed the placing of these posters all over the place that has annoyed many many people. Many community groups, including tidy-towns groups have expressed concern about the erection of such a large number of posters and have called on candidates to desist from putting them up. The use of the internet nowadays and in particular social media websites plays a great role in candidates getting their message out and while `knocking on doors and pressing the flesh` is also a valid way of meeting people face-on so that concerns, suggestions, queries etc. may be exchanged by the election hopefuls and the potential voter, the placing of placards and posters all over public spaces and property is certainly an unsightly scene and even more so when the Irish tourist season is about to start!
