Ardee Badminton Club are the best!

Mid Louth Diary

Probably the most successful season in the history of Ardee Badminton Club was crowned recently when it was awarded the honour of Club of the Year 2017-18 by the Meath Badminton Association, at the annual season-ending Awards Dinner Dance.

This was the second time the club has been awarded this accolade (the first time being in 2015).

During the season just completed, Ardee BC fielded teams in grades from 3-8, playing Mens, Ladies and Mixed Doubles. Demonstrating the strength in depth of the club, Ardee's teams reached finals in all grades except Grade 3, and won league and cup competitions at Grade 4, 5, 7 and 8. This was a tremendous achievement by a club in which almost all adult members play on at least 1 team.

In addition to the team successes, Ardee BC was honoured at the Awards Ceremony with two significant individual awards. Sabrina Carberry was awarded the Most Improved Player of the Year.

In a season during which Sabrina won league and cup titles at Grades 4 and 5, in Ladies and Mixed Doubles, Sabrina was a deserving and hugely popular winner of this award.

The second individual award, a Special Merit Award went to Ciaran Carry, for his contribution to badminton. Ciaran has been the backbone of Ardee BC for many years, serving as Club and Match Secretary. Ciaran has also been central in the club's growing juvenile section; he is also a terrific player in his own right, as well as being a tireless advocate of the game within the Meath Badminton Association, and beyond.

Ardee Badminton Club plays during the season (September - May) every Thursday evening in the sports hall at Ardee Community School. It caters for ALL levels of player, from beginner to higher level; it is a highly social club, and always welcomes new members. Adults and older juveniles play from 8:30pm until 10:30pm

The club also welcomes kids from about 8 years of age. These play from 7:30pm-8:30pm. The club can be found on Facebook
