The pedestrian crossing outside Sharkey's is great. Thing is, some drivers don't even realise what it is it seems. As far as I know, once you start to walk across the road, cars are supposed to stop. Last week I saw someone set off from the bank side and two cars just flew through the crossing, almost oblivious to the fact there was anybody on the road.

What a day for Louth fans in Navan last Sunday.

The performance by the Wee County was one of their best in years and it was wonderful to see that two Ardee men were foremost in the whole thing.

Ronan Carroll from the Mary's was awesome in the centre of the park with Paddy Keenan and if they can continue this form, what will the summer bring?

As for Darren Clarke, the man who plys his trade with St Sylvester's in Malahide has been the key to Louth staying in the division this season. Pure and simple.

I believe we are still on line to get the All Ireland Ploughing Championships. I heard last year that major efforts were being made to bring the event to the banks of the Dee and they are continuing.

THERE was much regret at the news of the passing of Margaret Myrvould (nee Boylan) in Gloucester, Boston - aged 93. She was the sister of the late Matt Boylan from Ardagh.

Margaret was born on a very special day, November 11th 1918, the day the Armistice was signed to end WWI.

She was actually born in Descart, County Monaghan and was the last surviving child of the late John and Catherine (Reilly) Boylan. Having immigrated to the United States at the age of twelve years, she was sent to live with an aunt and uncle to gain an education and hope for a better life. This was the last time she saw her parents.

She did make it home a few times in recent enough years and visited the places of her youth. Special days indeed.

Bogger and Alan Gernon have managed to come up with some good publicity stunts for the Ardee Laughs nights in the Ardee premises but the latest one beats them all.

Jamie O'brien (20) is a regular at the comedy club and has become such a fan, he got the logo for the night tattooed onto his arm.

But when Alan Gernon who runs the comedy club heard what he was up to, he decided to get a new logo done!

'We heard Jamie was going to get it done so decided to play a little trick on him. I asked our designer to design the worst possible logo for Ardee Laughs and he duly obliged. We brought Jamie on stage to show off his tattoo to the packed crowd, whose gasps of disbelief turned to laughter when I then revealed our new logo. Jamie didn't know whether to laugh or cry. The funniest thing was a lot of people thought the new logo looked great and that we should keep it,' Alan stated.

However, Jamie got the last laugh - with free entry for life and a decision to stick with the old logo.
