Mayor lights up the Toner Christmas house
THE CHRISTMAS season is finally upon us now the Toner family has switched on their spectacular display!
Mayor of Drogheda Richie Culhane did the honours of flicking the switch on Sunday night, watched by some of the boys and girls of St Mary's, Drumcar.
'Drumcar is one of our main recipients on our Open Charity Day on Thursday, December 19, and it was wonderful to see so many of the delighted faces looking at the lights and decorations at the weekend,' said Mick Toner, who along with his wife Margaret has hosted the annual event for many years.
'Regulars might notice a few new features this year, like the Santa in the window, who feels like he is in the room with you, and if you've never been before, you are in for a real treat.'
'We had hundreds come to see us last year, and of course we were on the TV3 programme too, so we hope to have even more visitors this year,' he adds.
'The big night is Thursday, December 19, this year, and as well as music and collection for the charity, there will a very special guest in a white beard, red coat and sleigh, so no prizes for guessing who that is!'
