Julianstown's big Spring Clean

The residents of Julianstown came out in force last Saturday to take part in An Taisce National Spring Clean and all the roads leading to this beautiful little village, which nestles in the valley of the River Nanny, were left in sparkling condition.

Meath County Council and An Taisce supplied all the necessary equipment such as Skip, Gloves, Litter Pickers and bags, and while many of our residents went picking up the litter, others came along with their trailers and picked up all the bags.

Laytown tidy Towns Group very nicely gave those taking part a loan of their 'Caution - Tidy Town Volunteers at work' signs.

The group filled a very big skip in no time at all and expressed thanks to each and everyone who came out to help. 'It's a great sense of achievement to know that your village is litter free. However, on a more serious note we would earnestly ask everyone to be more mindful of what they do with their litter,' said a spokesperson for the residents. 'Please don't open your car window as you are passing along and throw out your coffee cups, plastic bottles, cans, sweet papers etc - bring them home with you! Thanks must go to Julianstown & District Community Association who has been organizing this clean up for a number of years now and who provided all the volunteers with a much needed refreshments after all the work was done. Well done all!'
