Drogheda photo club enjoys success

Drogheda Photographic club won the top photography club award in Southern Ireland in the National Club Championships in Mullingar.

In total 26 photography clubs competed with each club having to submit their best 10 colour photographs and their best 10 monochrome images.

All the photographs from the clubs were assessed and scored by a panel of 3 international judges from the UK and Germany. The club was narrowly pipped for the best All Ireland club award by Catchlight Photographic Club in Belfast. Drogheda came 2nd overall in the monochrome photographs section and 3rd overall in colour photograph section.

Vadim Lee from Drogheda club won the bronze medal in the colour images section with his photo titled Big John and also the bronze medal award in the monochrome section with his photo titled Boy and Dog.

Des Clinton also won the highly commended award in the monochrome section. The club's images were from members Vadim Lee, John Butler, Adrian Parkinson, Judy Boyle, Mick Feeney, Gabriel O Shaughnessey, Des Clinton, Yvonne Cawley and Pat Burke.

Finally Pat Burke from the Drogheda club was awarded the Associate Distinction in photography. Pat had to produce 15 photographs of the highest standard in his chosen subject sports. These photographs were assessed by a panel of 9 assessors.
