Courtesy bus from hospital to car park cancelled
THE COURTESY bus service to and from Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital and the car park in Crosslanes has been discontinued.
In a statement issued to the Drogheda Independent, the HSE said 'a set down facility is available at the main hospital entrance if required for dropping off and collecting patients and visitors'.
It also advised that 'a short term car park facility is also available in the hospital grounds.'
The statement continued that the 'decision to cease the courtesy bus service was taken due to the low uptake and usage of the service by patients and visitors to the hospital'.
'Any patient or visitor who is frail or elderly and needs to be dropped to the door while someone parks their car will continue to be facilitated,' said the HSE spokesman.
The service was suspended temporarily in January 2009 over license issues, leaving patients and visitors stranded and using taxis to access the hospital.
