Village Folk mark 50 years

On 13th July Duleek band The Village Folk will celebrate 50 years together by playing a special gig in Sharkeys Bar, Clogherhead. This is to remember their first gig which took place on 14th July 1969 in The Pirates Den.

The three original members, Michael Griffin, Seamus Clinton and Martin Murray still meet up every few weeks to play music and sing their favourite songs. The band have played all over including The Rose of Tralee, Miami, Blackpool and several trips to Austria as well as playing support to The Dubliners, Planxty and The Bothy Band to name but a few.

There has been many personnel changes over the years and the band are inviting all those who played with them to come along on the 13th and join in the celebrations.
