Buskers wanted for major festival in Banbridge on June 22

Banbridge will be buzzing on Saturday 22 June as a musical menagerie of performers gather from near and far as they take part in BuskFest.

Talented musicians from across the country will take to the streets to battle it out for a share of the £3000 prize pot in the biggest and brightest BuskFest yet!

BuskFest is an international busking festival which takes place in Banbridge, County Down, Northern Ireland. The event, which is now in its 16th year, attracts 6000+ people from across the globe to Banbridge Town Centre. Singers, bands, solo artists and street entertainers will enthral the crowds in Banbridge Town Centre from 1pm - 4pm and perform for the panel of judges before the winners are announced for Best Individual, Best Band, Best Junior, Best Performance, sponsored by Banbridge Chamber of Commerce and Spirit of BuskFest sponsored by The Boulevard, Banbridge', before the overall winner is declared and delivers a well-deserved encore.

In something of a coup for BuskFest, the excitement continues as internationally acclaimed award winning group 'The 4 of Us' take to the stage at 7pm for a fabulous free concert performing hits from their illustrious 25 year career.

Speaking at the launch of BuskFest 2019, Lord Mayor of Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough, Councillor Mealla Cambell, said: 'I am delighted to be part of this marvellous musical celebration. Celebrating its 16th year Banbridge BuskFest continues to grow in popularity both in numbers participating and visitors to the town centre. BuskFest not only presents an amazing opportunity for amateur performers to showcase their talents but also offers a fabulous free day out for all the family to enjoy.'

BBC Radio presenter and BuskFest compere Ralph McLean added: 'Banbridge Buskfest is one of my favourite musical days out of the year.

'I'm honoured to once again act as a judge and compare for this years festivities. I love to see all the musical talent performing around the town and I'm always hugely impressed by the massive range and variety of performers and groups who come every year. Busking is a special skill and Banbridge Buskfest is the biggest and best celebration of it. I know this year is going to be better than ever before so bring it on!'
