Kilfenora ceili band to headline top TLT show
The world renowned Kilfenora Céilí Band, regarded by aficionados as the quintessential Irish céilí band, will be joined by acclaimed singer Edel Vaughan from Co. Clare and dancers Laura Minogue, (Co. Clare), Deirdra Kiely (Co. Waterford), and world champions Michael and Matthew Gardiner (Co Galway) to perform an uplifting, energetic and entertaining show on Thursday August 16th 2018 at the TLT.
This traditional legendary group take their rich musical heritage into the future with a show that is expertly choreographed by boasting highly rhythmic traditional tunes, together with beautifully sung airs and witty repartee.
The Kilfenora Céilí Band is made up of leader John Lynch (banjo, mandolin), Claire Griffin (accordion), Tim Collins (concertina), Gary Shannon (flute, whistle), Anthony Quigney (flute, whistle, piano), AnneMarie McCormack (fiddle), Sinéad Heagney (fiddle/viola), Anne Rynne (fiddle), Eimear Howley (fiddle & banjo), Fintan McMahon (piano), Sean Griffin (drums) and Brian O'Grady (double bass) and Sharon Howley (cello).
Little Red Riding Hood
Jolly Promotions presents Little Red Riding Hood and the Silly Billy Fox on July 26 at the TLT. This children's favourite is one that the kids will want to come and see. Cost €10.
Open air theatre
Chapterhouse Theatre Company take to the stage with their annual open air theatre, which has become a real highlight of the summer social calender.
This year the Battle of the Boyne stage is set for 'Alice's Adventures in Wonderland' on Saturday 21st July. The Droichead Arts Centre encourage audiences to bring along a rug and a picnic (and perhaps a glass of wine or two for the adults...) before being whisked away by the magic of theatre on a summer evening.
