Go along and get a taste of Irish at the 2019 Louth Fleadh event
On Friday 10th May, Drogheda Comhaltas, as part of its 50th Anniversary celebrations, will launch the Louth Fleadh with a concert in the Barbican Centre where almost 100 members of the branch will perform.
Special guests on the night will be the Oriel Traditional Orchestra, who will perform a new suite of music, the Oriel March, which has been composed by Dr. Daithi Kearney of DkIT. The concert will commence at 7.30pm.
Then on Sunday 12th May the Louth Fleadh competitions will commence at 10.00 am in St Oliver's Community College, Rathmullan Road. Competitors from all corners of Louth will compete in multiple competitions with the hope of progressing to the Leinster Fleadh. Last year Drogheda Comhaltas were thrilled to have 7 members compete at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann with Comhrá Gaeilge, Damhsa and Canadh following their success at provincial level.
So make sure you come along and witness, the unbelievable talent the Wee County has to offer at the Louth Fleadh. A day and night not to be missed, sure to get your feet tapping, dreaming of August days and nights and giving you an added appreciation of all things Irish.
Tickets for the launch concert are €10 for adults €2 for children or €20 for a family ticket.
