Fleadh Volunteers were just amazing!

Fleadh Volunteers gathered in the Westcourt Hotel last week to celebrate the success of Fleadh Cheoil and their contribution to that success.

Over 250 volunteers came together for a night of music, dancing and chat. Young and old, local people and people from far afield had a fantastic time and danced the night away. The Westcourt Hotel provided a complimentary champagne reception while music was provided by the ever-popular Wednesday Gang, sponsored by Padraic Kierans of Anglo Printers.

Many local businesses contributed prizes for a raffle held on the night, including Newgrange Motor Centre, the Boyne Valley Hotel, Kierans Deli, Boyne Valley Foods, Listoke Distillery, Coca-Cola International Services, and EMS Consultants. Many of the businesses were effusive in their praise of the volunteers and wanted it to be conveyed how impressed they were by them over the course of the week.

Lolo Robinson spoke at the event as Chair of the Fleadh Executive Committee, saying that "There is only one way to describe the volunteers at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann and that is FANTASTIC, each and every one of them did themselves and Drogheda proud". Lolo also stated that the Fleadh could not have gone ahead without volunteers and that the volunteers in Drogheda this year really went the extra mile.

Gráinne Berrill, Manager of Louth Volunteer Centre, addressed the crowd and noted what a privilege it had been to work with such fantastic volunteers over the course of the two Fleadhs, and complimented the Louth Volunteer Centre team on their commitment and work over the past two years in bringing the Fleadh Volunteer Programme to fruition. Gráinne also reminded people that if their interest in volunteering in general had been sparked by the Fleadh that Louth Volunteer Centre are available all year round and a wide variety of volunteer roles are available on their database.
