Benefit night for the Philippines

A BENEFIT night to raise funds for the aid effort in the Philippines has been organised in Sarsfields Back Lounge, Chord Road on Saturday, November 30th.

All the proceeds raised will go to The Red Cross.

A number of singers and local bands will play on the night.

Water Safety

The Billy Tyndall Fun Competition will be held on Tuesday 26th November in Gormanstown College Pool. Please assemble in the Gym at 7. 20 pm. Current Water Safety Classes eligible.

The Billy Tyndall Memorial Trophy will be awarded to the winners of the Fun Competition on Tues 3rd December in the Glenside Hotel at 8 pm. Water Safety Awards and Certificates for 2012 /2013 will be presented on the night.

Local environment project Action for Biodiversity is asking local people to nominate their top spots for enjoying nature in the winter months, as part of its 'Winter Wonderland' online nature guide.

From warming walks in a frosty forest, to a hideaway haven for watching wintering birds, Action for Biodiversity want to hear about the celebrated and lesser known locations that showcase the rich variety of nature in the East Border Region.
