Under 12s stay top of league after 4-1 victory

KANTURK SOCCER CLUB: Kanturk U12's stay top of their league with a resounding 4 – 1 win over bottom team Wilton United. Only 1–0 at half time, Kanturk started the second half with some outstanding football, playing one two's and some neat passing and close control and they hit the woodwork three times in the space of five minutes.

They might have thought their luck wasn't in when Wilton scored a cracker against the run of play but then Kanturk made it 2–1 soon after and scored two more before the end for a comfortable victory. The Kanturk scorers were Jordan Fullerton, two, Steven Jones, Dan O'Donoghue and Jack Nugent, one each. Jack Nugent and Shane O'Sullivan were also in top form.

Kanturk U14's were awarded a 3 – 0 win when Blarney couldn't field a team.

Kanturk U16's had a great away win over Leeside Knockraha and jumped up to 3rd in their league. Gavin O'Sullivan and Steven Tobin were the goal scorers but Shane O'Sullivan was the hero in goals when he saved a penalty. Steven Tobin was also outstanding throughout the game. Final Score Knockraha 1, Kanturk 2.

In the premier A League, Kanturk A team played one of their best games of the season against high flying Kilumney in Gurteenard last Saturday afternoon. Kilumney look like League Champions elect as they have several games at hand because of their cup runs and are after winning six or seven in a row.

Kanturk on the other hand need points to stay out of danger so this 2 – 2 draw was a great result against the form team in this league. This was a cracking match that had everything, with Kanturk deserving their point and might have nicked it at the end. Kanturk's scorer was Tom Fitzgibbon with two (one from the penalty spot).

In Div.3, in their first game Kanturk B team lost 3 – 2 last Tuesday evening to Knocknaheeny Celtic at Gurteenard. 1 – 1 at half time the Bees conceded two soft goals in the second half, then got one back with 15 minutes to go as Knocknaheeney were hanging on but an equalizer wouldn't come. Kanturk scorers were Denis Finn and Ronan Sheehan. In their second game they lost 3 – 2 to Strand United (Inniscarra) on Sunday morning. Kanturk went ahead in the 5th minute through David O'Neill but Strand got the next two to lead 2 – 1 but Denis Finn equalized from the penalty spot. Confusion at the back for the bees gave Strand a 3 – 2 lead, which they held until the final whistle against constant pressure from Kanturk.
