St Val's juniors claim win in first game

THE St Val's juniors played their first league match of the season at home in Carrigadrohid against Valley Rovers last Sunday evening. In a game that was close and exciting all through our girls finally pulled away near the end to win on a score line of 2-10 to 2-7 their next match is away to Naomh Aban.

The U14 team opened their league campaign with an impressive win against Douglas in Cloughduv last Tuesday evening. From the first whistle our girls were well on top and three goals inside the first fifteen minutes before Douglas responded with a point from play.

Val's added another three points before Douglas got their first goal from play to reduce the Val's lead. Val's continued to dominate and added two goals from full forward Sinead Plunkett just before the break to leave the score at half-time 5-4 to 1-1 in our girls' favour.

The second half continued in the same way with our girls totally on top all over the field. Douglas did add another goal, but our girls kicked some great scores to leave the full time score St Val's 8-8, Douglas 2-1

Scorers: Sinead Plunkett 5-2, Caoimhe Cotter 0-4, Niamh Looney 2-0, Sarah Byrne 1-0, Ciara McCarthy and Ciara Hughes 0-1 each.
