Park Utd need springboard of win

PARK United's season to date has been dominated by cup games and this is only their fourth league game to date.

AUL Premier League Park Utd v Springfield, Brigowen, 2pm.

They go into the game just off the bottom of the table but with less games played than all other teams, but one. Springfield have taken five points from six games and a win here will put Park midtable.

Obviously, Park have so few points because they have played so few games. However, there is urgency in the fixture for the home side as Coachford are pulling away with five wins in five starts, and Kilumney have full points from three games.

AUL Premier A League Kanturk v Leeds, Kanturk, 2pm WHILE Kanturk have played 24 games already this season, this is only their fourth Premier A league clash of the season. They have six points on the table and they will hope to collect more when Leeds come to play. The Ballyvolane-based side are struggling second from the bottom of the table with only one point from eight games.

While a win is on the cards, a win is also important to Kanturk as their wonderful Munster Junior Cup run came to a harsh end in Killarney last Saturday. A combination of home advantage, an outstanding Killarney strikeforce and a poor performance from the Kanturk led to a onesided, eight-nil victory for home side. Killarney play on an allweather surface that visitors find difficult to adapt to. Killarney led two-nil at halftime and a third goal early in the second half was a killer blow to Kanturk. While the result was disappointing for Kanturk, they can take consolation that they were among the last 32 in a Munster-wide competiton and the loss was only their third this season to date.

League 3B Newmarket v Rylane Celtic Rathcoole, 10.45am THIS is one of the fixtures of the weekend as it may go a long way towards deciding the outcome of the League 3B title. Newmarket go into the game in first place while local rivals Rylane are second, six points adrift. Both sides have played 11 games. A win for Newmarket will put them nine points clear at the top while a win for Rylane cuts their deficit to only three points. The only certainty is a competitive, determined game.
