Sport aplenty is promised at the Twomey Family Remorial Weekend in Meelin and Rockchapel on this Saturday and Sunday with a diverse outdoor sporting programme of a cycle, road race and GAA related events.
Proceeds from the weekend go towards supporting worthy causes, namely Bru Columbanus, Cork; St. Joseph's Foundation, Charleville; Reach Out Mental Health; 3T's Suicide Prevention and Cork Samaritans.
Proceedings begin on Saturday with the Con Twomey Memorial Hurling Blitz on the grounds of Meelin GAA. Later in the day, a Table Quiz takes place in Meelin Hall commencing at 8.45pm.
Sunday's action is up and away at 8.30am with a 55/110km cycle from Rockchapel Community Centre. Organised in conjunction with Kanturk Cycling Club, the race starts and finishes in Rockchapel.
Duhallow AC are lending their backing to the Meelin four mile road race on Sunday commencing at 2pm, that preceded 30 minutes earlier by a walk. With club Chairman Donie Shine expressing delight on supporting the programme of events.
"The club are promoting the four mile road, we have marked the course and expect a large entry drawn from regular athletes and those interested from the immediate catchment area to participate," he said.

Mount Hillary Hill climb
Mt. Hillary AC are hosting their first race since the club was formed recently and in conjunction with the Munster Mountain Running Association, the race takes place at Mt Hillary on Wednesday, June 13 at 8pm. Refreshments will be served after the race in the Glen Theatre, Banteer to celebrate the official club launch.
The club invites runners and non-runners to attend and mark a momentous occasion in the club's history.
