Rachael O'Shea of West Muskerry AC was competing in the Junior and Under 23 All Ireland Track and Field championships held in CIT on Sunday last and cam ehome with a silver medal.

In the 400m Rachael started conservatively but picked up the pace with 250m still to go. Rachael battled hard down the home straight and was well deserving of the silver medal. Rachael was very happy with her performance in her last Junior track and field race as next year she moves up to the Under 23 category.

She also competed in the 800m but the race did not go to plan on this occasion. She will compete in her final 800m race for 2014 in the National Seniors in a few weeks time.

Well done also to Garry O'Sullivan who had a fantastic race in Belgium on Saturday last in the 800m where his aim going into the race was to break the 2 minutes.

The young athlete went in with a very positive attitude and he came home in 4th place with a new Personal Best Time of 1.59.21. Garry is now looking forward to the Senior All Ireland in a couple of weeks as well as his own Under 18 All Ireland where he hopes to improve on his 1500m and his 800m times again.
