Casey faces Kerry's Daly in All-Ireland semi-final

Again a busy weekend coming up in 40x20 Handball courts as the O'Neills sponsored Men's and Ladies Open Singles All-Ireland semi-finals are decided at Kingscourt,while in other adult grades All-Ireland Doubles semi-finals are down for decision.

Kingscourt will be host Mens and Ladies Open Senior Singles semi-finals on Saturday commencing at 3pm Cork interest will be in Ladies semi-finals with Ballydesmond's Catriona Casey taking on Kerry's Maria Daly while in the second semi-final Martina McMahon, Limerick, plays the winner of Antrim's Aishling Reilly v Westmeath Aoife McCarthy.

Men's semi-finals commence at 4pm and while there is no Cork involvement two interesting games in prospect with Westmeath Robbie McCarthy taking on Meath Brian Carroll and Clare Diarmuid Nash facing Armagh Charlie Shanks.

In doubles semi-finals in other grades Cork players will be involved at three Connacht venues on Saturday and at two Cork venues on Sunday. Starting on Saturday at Newport, Co Mayo at 1pm Ballydesmond pair Dave Stack/Tim Joe Healy take on Mayo Peter Burke/Jim Sheridan, the second game will see Conna pair Kieran Noonan/Barry O'Regan also play Mayo George Miller/Kevin Cox in Silver Masters B Doubles.

At Moycullen on Saturday also 1pm Liscarroll pair Pat O'Brien/Tony Buckley take on Galway Morgan Darcy/John Keelehan in Ruby Masters Doubles while at Ballaghaderreen with a 2pm start John Herlihy, St Finbarrs/John Hedigan, Liscarroll team up to face Mayo Martin Vahey/John Staunton in Golden Masters A Doubles.

On Sunday at Liscarroll with a 1pm start two s/finals down for decision with Daniel Relihan, Liscarroll, and Aidan Kerins, Ballydesmond, facing Roscommon Brendan McDonagh/Nevan McCartan in Junior B Doubles.

In the second game Fermoy pair Jamie O'Donnell/Tom McDonagh take on Mayo's Paul Judge/Michael Ginley in Over 35 B Doubles. At Conna commencing at 2pm another double header opening with Golden Masters B Doubles in which Conna pair Pat Clancy/Brendan Hurley face Galway Brendan McNeela/Denis Phelan, second game is Diamond Masters A Doubles in which Pat Morris, St Finbarrs, teams up with Conna's Chris Hurley to play Mayo's Joe Neary/Pauraic Gillard.

In last weekend's singles semi-final we won two and lost five with Daniel Relihan winning Junior B Singles and Dave Stack winning Diamond Masters B Singles. Last weekend also our Mallow Credit Union sponsored Juvenile teams were in action we reached all three Munster Finals U-12/13, U14/15,U16/17 but lost all three.

In U-12/13 while we lost the final to Tipperary it was a very exciting contest between two very skilled sides the Cork team was made up of three Boherbue players Luke Murphy, Darragh Ducey, Liam Moynihan, two Fermoy players Hayden Supple, Owen Hegarty, two from Kilworth Stevie O'Donnell, Tiernan McAllister and Gearoid Healy from Liscarroll.

In U-14/15 Cork again reached the final in which they took on Clare this was another nail biting contest with Clare just shading it by a few aces. The Cork team on duty here was four Mallow players Anthony O'Connell, Niall Delany, Michael O'Malley, Conor Walsh, Sean Murphy,Ballydesmond, Michael O'Callaghan, Liscarroll, and Jerry O'Sullivan, Boherbue.

In U16/17 we again reach the final v Tipperary but again had to settle for silver, Cork team was two Mallow players Billy O'Malley, Pauric Driscoll, two Liscarroll players Tadgh Jones and Dwayne Sheehan, Jimmy O'Donnell, Kilworth, Niall O'Regan, Conna.

County 40x20 Juvenile B championship will commence this weekend and continue for the next four weekends with final scheduled for Saturday March 28, all clubs have been issued with the schedule. Munster Juvenile committee have decided to run a 'B' championship this year confined to players who have not represented their county.

They propose to run it on Saturday March 21 full details of proposed venues and times will be issued following Munster Juvenile meeting on Wednesday March 11. Last Sunday Kilworth club organised a very successful Blitz with separate competitions for U-8/9 and for U-10/11 there was a big entry in both with all players enjoying their day.
